I 100% understand the reluctance of spending more time in front of a camera than is absolutely necessary. Most of us feel awkward and perhaps slightly embarrassed in front of the camera. Having spoken with a number of couples who have booked their weddings with me I always try and encourage them to use the complimentary engagement/pre wedding taster shoot.   I have a number of reason that I think these shoots are a good idea, but below I have listed some of my top reasons. Â
- We get to know each other. On your wedding day, you will spend a lot of time with me. (especially the bride) This pre wedding shoot allows you to see how I work, it also allows me to see you guys as a couple. I can get a feel for poses you like, and poses you are uncomfortable with. I usually get to hear your story during these shoots and we can have a laugh in a more relaxed environment than on your wedding day. Â
- It really is good practice, I often use prompts when shooting couple, which allows me to get genuine smiles and reactions. Taking advantage of a pre wedding shoot means that you can relax and embrace these because you have seen how the finished image can look. It'll allow you to trust that I will never ask you to do something that would make you look awkward or uncomfortable.
- It will give you an opportunity to spend some quality time together. The run up to your wedding can be quite manic. There are a lot of demands on your time and energy. Which may feel like a reason not to do it, but I promise that taking this hour out of your schedule to spend with each other will not be something you ever regret.
- These photos don't ever need to be shown to anyone if you don't want to. I never post any images online with your say so. But I have found that my couples love to share some on social media to do a countdown to the wedding.
With my Satin and Silk packages these shoots are complimentary, so you have nothing to lose and so much to gain. its a perfect excuse for a date night too.Â
